2015 Faiveley Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, Cote d'Or, Burgundy very pretty floral complex spicy nose. Ripe yellow peach, apple and preserved lemon. Brioche is present, but is offset with a saline hit. Toasty oak warm, but under control middle palate. This wine is rich yet shy. I think there will be a lot more to see, in the next couple of years. Prawns or smoked fish would work well.
Pale, bright yellow. Pungent scents of crushed citrus peel, ginger and metallic minerality; higher-pitched and spicier than the Bâtard. At once ripe, smooth and sweet, offering a compelling combination of pliant texture, sweet stone fruit flavors and tactile stony minerality. The richness and fruit depth of the vintage come through loud and clear but this wine has perfect balancing minerality and ripe harmonious acidity for its sexy sweetness. Finishes very smooth and very long. Will this wine shut down in bottle or will it remain accessible? It certainly has the stuffing for at least mid-term aging.
