2015 Vincent Girardin Meursault 1er Cru ‘Genevieres’, Cote de Beaune, Burgundy. Decadent and rich yet still showing restraint. Apple & pear with a
hint of preserved lemon in the middle. Minerally edge is complemented by a long finish with toast oak in the background.
‘(from degenerating 60-year- old vines planted on SO4 rootstock; picked on the early side): A deft application of wood sets off notes of exotic tea, spice, citrus and apple scents. There is a really lovely texture to the lightly mineral-inflected medium weight flavors that are rich but refined; indeed the mouth feel is one of finesse, all wrapped in a lingering finale that is supported by citrus-tinged acidity.’
