This golden-colored Tokaji has aromas of raw honey, apricot blossom, pear and baked apple tart. Silky smooth upon entry, it offers flavors of baked apples, wildflower honey, canned pears and apricot. The acidity is nicely balanced so as not to be too cloyingly sweet.

The purity of this wine is remarkable. Like a clarinet, holding a note through the sunrise. Long, creamy but crystal-cut with the most remarkable intensity of apricot craquelure. Quite stunning.

The 2016 is 100% Furmint, picked in six passes from the middle of September until the 24th of November. The Aszú berries were gently crushed and then macerated in a base wine and must of Furmint and Hárslevelű. After a long pressing, the fermentation took place in stainless steel vats until the middle of December. The wine was then aged in 225-litre oak barrels (including 17% new Hungarian oak) for two years and bottled with 177g/L residual sugar.

It’s a glorious Tokaji full of the drive and brightness we find in all Disznókő wines but paired with remarkable, light-footed power. It’s just so hedonistic and aromatically intricate—exotically perfumed with a velvety texture and heady concentration. Take your pick from a kaleidoscope of aromas—tea cake, pineapple, Asian spice, citrus skin, soaked sultanas, marmalade, candy floss and light caramel. While on the palate, you get remarkable, mouthwatering tension with saturated intensity of pure, botrytised Furmint offset by razor-sharp freshness. Glory!

Disznókő Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 500ml is a legendary sweet wine from one of Hungary’s most iconic estates, crafted with meticulous care and centuries of tradition. This golden elixir represents the pinnacle of Tokaji winemaking, made from hand-selected botrytised grapes—known as aszú berries—that have shrivelled and intensified in flavour under the influence of noble rot.

Disznókő, whose name translates to “stone of the boar,” has been producing wine since at least the 18th century and is now recognised globally for its exceptional balance of richness and freshness. The 6 Puttonyos classification refers to the highest traditional sweetness level in Tokaji before reaching the even rarer Eszencia. It means the wine is richly concentrated, yet perfectly poised thanks to the electric natural acidity that Tokaji is known for.

The blend is typically based on Furmint, with Hárslevelű and Zéta playing supporting roles. The aszú berries are macerated in fermenting base wine, slowly releasing their sugars and complex aromatics. After pressing, the wine is aged in Hungarian oak barrels in the historic cellars, where it develops layers of flavour and remarkable ageing potential.

In the glass, expect aromas of apricot jam, orange peel, honeycomb, dried fig, saffron, and exotic spices. The palate is unctuous yet lifted, with deep sweetness balanced by razor-sharp acidity. It finishes long, elegant, and hauntingly complex.

Disznókő 6 Puttonyos is ideal with blue cheese, foie gras, spiced desserts, or simply savoured on its own. This is not just a wine—it’s an experience.
