2016 Willi Schaefer Graacher Riesling Trocken, Mosel will appeal to the off-dry Australian riesling fans. Lots of blossom on the nose, gives way to crisp apple, quince. there is a nice concentration of fruit on the finish, with a clean finish.
"As usual, this bottling sourced primarily from Himmelreich (but with a bit of Domprobst) was lightly chaptalized for a finished alcohol of 11.5%, which fortunately doesn’t preclude a sense of buoyancy. A greenhouse-like suggestion of flowers and foliage overlies scents of apple, anticipating the crisp impression on a firm palate. Just-ripe honeydew adds to the juicy appeal of a generous, slate-lined finish. Here’s an instance where charm gives a Schaefer 2016 the edge over its 2015 counterpart."
