A sublime example of McLaren Vale Shiraz. Superbly handled, this has nothing but a beating heart that oozes class and precision. The fruit is elegant and glides through the mouth. Beautifully weighted, the balance of fruit and oak is insatiable. Delicate savoury influences are highlighted by fennel, clove and licorice which mesh with ease culminating in a finish which rides long leaving a sexy spicy hum in its wake. Just wow. Decant before drinking now or cellar for a decade+.

Comes solely from a single 1.8ha block, wild yeast-open fermented with 25% whole bunches, 75% destemmed and mechanically sorted fruit, matured in French oak (35% new) for 15 months. Rich, complex and mildly tannic, its balance assuring those tannins will settle down and thereafter serve to assure development of the wine.

Lovely wine this. Straight up impressive. Sandy swish of tannins is the lingering thought, but there’s dark berry-cherry perfume, ripe of course, but shy of over done, sniffs of old spice cupboard, succulence writ large. It’s long, fine and elegant in its way, but doesn’t forget the earthy, regional grunt of the region. Just enough of everything, plus an individual personality, and the wine feels gently done. Again, a lovely wine.

This has a very impressive array of ripe, rich dark plums and black cherries with a very intense and assertive palate that marries powdery, cocoa-infused tannins, as well as density at the finish with an air of precision. Certified organic. Drink or hold.
