Anselmi San Vincenzo IGT is one of Veneto’s great everyday white wines that punches well above its weight, made by Roberto Anselmi, one of the most influential and outspoken figures in modern Italian winemaking. The vineyards lie around Monteforte d’Alpone on volcanic and limestone soils in the eastern part of Soave, where altitude, free draining ground and cooling breezes help preserve freshness and aromatic lift. By choosing to bottle his wines as IGT rather than DOC, Anselmi freed himself from restrictive regulations and focused entirely on fruit quality, vineyard expression and balance, a decision that helped redefine how the world views Soave and Veneto whites.
San Vincenzo is typically a blend led by Garganega, with a portion of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc adding texture and aromatic complexity. In the glass it shows a bright straw colour, opening with aromas of pear, apple, citrus zest, white flowers and a subtle herbal note. The palate is fresh yet rounded, delivering juicy orchard fruit, gentle mineral grip and lively acidity that keeps the wine crisp and highly drinkable. It is incredibly versatile at the table, working beautifully with seafood, pasta, salads, grilled vegetables and light meats, and while it is designed for immediate enjoyment, it also has the balance to age for several years, gaining more savoury and nutty detail with time.
