Les Longeays is a continuation of the Les Quarts hillside. Longeays has metres of deep red clay before the vines hit the mother rock.
Given these deeper, clay-rich soils, you might be surprised by the salty, mineral intensity of this cuvée. Yes there are waves of texture and depth of fruit but year in, year out, the wine is balanced by a wonderful chalkiness and juicy acidity as well a nip of phenolic bite.
The 2017 a towering, layered white Burgundy with an expanse of succulent, textured fruit lifted by a torrent of ripe acidity, and finishing with the tell-tale dose of sea salty tang. Exuberance!
