Wirra Wirra has had this brand for many years, but not with a $150 price around the neck of the chook. If it heads to China, the translation might cause consternation. Regardless, it's a great example of the vintage, with intense, focused and long black fruit flavours. Northern Rhone Valley watch out. Deft handling of French oak is the last piece of the jigsaw. Drink to 2047.

97 points James Halliday for Halliday Wine Companion, August 2019

Very deep purple/red colour, with a sweet blackberry-jam aroma and some stalky, fresh-herb notes. The palate is sweet and syrupy, big and bold and just a little clumsy, finishing with a gently persuasive tannin grip. Vegetal and humus notes overlying coffee and blackberry. Full-bodied and plush-textured. Oak has been subtly played. Drink to 2037.

95 points Huon Hooke for The Real Review, November 2020

This has violet, licorice, red-plum and earthy aromas in a very fresh, rich mode. The palate is smooth-honed and has a wealth of succulent red plums and berries on offer with a juicy resolve. Plush and charming throughout.

94 points James Suckling, May 2020
