Co-fermented with 'a bit' of viognier, and matured in French oak (20% new). Silky, floral, velvety, robust, dusty, ripe and spiced. All very good things here, and unbelievably wrapped up in $28 and smart packaging. The Alkoomi Black label range is a bit of a marvel. Blood plum, mulberry, blackberry and raspberry with lashings of salted licorice, ferrous and lavendar. Another ripping wine here – bravo team Cherry.

Vibrant deep crimson with magenta hues. Lifted aromas of violets, black cherries and peppery spices. Rich flavours of black cherry and dark chocolate on the medium bodied palate with layers of sugary tannins interwoven with pepper and bright freshness.Ready to enjoy now, although will gain complexity over the next five to eight years with careful cellaring
