From one of Pommard’s most prized Premier Cru sites, this Epenots cuvée from Domaine Coche-Dury and the Hospices de Beaune represents a rare meeting of legendary Burgundy craftsmanship and historic charity vineyard heritage. Hospices wines are produced from gifted parcels and auctioned each year, with leading domaines entrusted to raise and mature the wines. Epenots is renowned for producing Pommard of both muscle and refinement, and under Coche-Dury’s meticulous élevage, this wine gains added precision, depth and age worthy structure. The combination of limestone and clay soils delivers both power and a distinctly mineral backbone.
The colour is a deep ruby garnet with impressive concentration. Aromas are layered and complex, showing black cherry, dark raspberry and wild strawberry, followed by rose petal, iron, spice and subtle forest floor. The palate is structured yet finely balanced, with concentrated red and dark fruit framed by firm, polished tannins and a vibrant acid spine that drives long through the finish. There is a savoury, mineral core that adds gravitas and signals serious ageing potential.
Superb with roast duck, beef bourguignon, venison, truffle dishes and aged Comté. Built for long cellaring, it will evolve beautifully over fifteen to twenty five years, gaining silkiness, sous bois and tertiary complexity.
