Deep colour with a touch of development in the rim; the bouquet is very ripe and oaky, with a combination of volatile alcohol, dark- chocolate/vanilla oak and cooked plums on the bouquet. Vegetable stock and spices are in there, too. The wine is very powerful, concentrated and plush, with lavish fruit and oak sweetness, big servings of everything, but it doesn't really gel. The finish is loaded with tannin. The question is: will age bring the components together and resolve the wine? Drink to 2038.

90 points Huon Hooke for The Real Review, January 2026

Glaetzer-Dixon Family Winemakers is an urban winery based in Hobart, Tasmania. Established in 2008 by Nick and Sally Glaetzer, they source fruit primarily from a trusted dozen or so growers across Tasmania, with increasing amount of fruit coming from their own, 2018-planted 12-hectare site at Tea Tree in the Coal River Valley.

While famous for their award-winning Shiraz releases, it is their Pinot Noir and Riesling wines that have won them a legion of loyal customers.

The rather opulent La Judith Shiraz is made from fruit sourced from a single Coal River Valley vineyard with some of the oldest vines in the area.
