A stunning Langhe Nebbiolo that would top many Barolos and Barbarescos although this wine is certainly still holding its cards very close to its chest. It is though another example to show that Luigi Vico is an absolute master at crafting nebbiolos with rare purity of fruit.
A bright mid cherry red colour is followed by deliciously subtle and perfumed red raspberry fruits before launching into savoury, spicy aromas. The palate is more tarry and tea flavoured with superb acid balance and raw power although the tannins are surprisingly velvety for Nebbiolo. It’s a complete package that is topped off by exceptional length, and great value for a Nebbiolo from the Langhe.

Although this is indeed the first vintage of Luigi Vico’s Barolo, this is no ordinary debut: It draws on family-heirloom vineyards in the heart of Serralunga and enlists superstar Davide Rosso to help bring it to the world in grand (and traditional) style.
