Lovely fresh citrus, honeysuckle, white flower and honey aromas. It's fresh, silky and elegant, with a medium body and gentle bubbles. Very clean, pure and classy. 50% pinot noir and 50% chardonnay. Drinkable now, but better from 2027.

Warm, sunny 2018 has given this vintage Taittinger real generosity without losing its trademark finesse. A high proportion of Chardonnay brings lift and precision, while extended lees aging adds creaminess and fine, persistent mousse.

In the glass it shows pale gold with a stream of tiny bubbles. Aromas of lemon curd, crisp apple and white peach mingle with brioche, toasted hazelnut and a hint of chalky minerality. The palate is silky and vibrant rather than heavy, with citrus, stone fruit and subtle pastry notes carried on clean, mouthwatering acidity and a long, gently nutty finish.

On the table it’s spot on with Sydney rock oysters, prawns with lemon and aioli, tempura whiting or simple grilled scallops. It also flatters roast chicken, triple‑cream brie, or a bowl of hot chips with good mayonnaise when you want something a bit indulgent but unfussy.
