De Vasari Chianti Riserva DOCG is a structured and elegant Tuscan red that elevates the classic Chianti style with extra depth, complexity and ageing potential. Made from organically grown Sangiovese and a small percentage of complementary local varieties, this Riserva is crafted from the estate’s best fruit and aged to highlight the refined, savoury side of Chianti.
The grapes are hand harvested and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel, followed by extended maturation in oak barrels to develop texture, spice and tertiary character. The result is a wine that stays true to the brightness of Sangiovese, while adding polish and length.
The nose opens with aromas of ripe cherry, black plum, dried rose, leather and a touch of cedar. On the palate, it’s medium to full bodied, with dark berry fruit, dried herbs, tobacco and subtle oak spice. The tannins are firm yet well integrated, and there’s a backbone of fresh acidity that carries through to a long, savoury finish.
Food pairing: excellent with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild mushroom pappardelle, aged Pecorino Toscano, osso buco, or rosemary roast lamb. Also perfect with truffle dishes or game meats.
Cellar potential: this wine is drinking well now with a decant, but will age gracefully over 8 to 12 years, developing earthy, balsamic and spice complexity.
