Monforte d’Alba. Mid ruby. Tight but impressively minerally nose with lifted raspberry and iron. With aeration, finely perfumed and with hints of what looks like oak. Elegant, polished and amazingly light of touch. Persistent, long, sandy tannins and lively raspberry fruit. Endlessly long. Poised. (WS)

Sunny and of a "dark" and intriguing nature, it shows notes of black plums, blackberries, wild myrtle, juniper berries, bergamot and green mandarins. Lemongrass and vetiver describe the secondary scene of this well-made Barolo. Medium body, soft tannins and a creamy finish of splendid energy and sartorial precision. Better from 2025.

Poderi Colla Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose DOCG is a soulful, traditional Barolo that channels the essence of one of the region’s most revered crus with elegance, depth, and quiet authority. Nestled in the heart of Monforte d’Alba, the Bussia cru is famed for its south and southwest-facing slopes, and the Dardi subzone—where Le Rose vineyard lies—is one of its oldest and most distinctive pockets. This wine is a pure expression of terroir, time, and family heritage.
Poderi Colla is run by Tino Colla, whose winemaking lineage dates back to the 1700s, and who was formerly a partner in Prunotto before establishing his own estate in 1994 with niece Federica. Their approach is proudly traditional: long macerations, slow aging in large Slavonian oak botti, and minimal manipulation in the cellar. The goal is always to express vineyard character with clarity and grace, allowing Nebbiolo’s haunting aromatics and fine tannins to shine.
The Bussia Dardi Le Rose Barolo is crafted from vines averaging 40+ years of age, planted in marl and sandstone soils that provide both structure and aromatic lift. The wine offers classic notes of dried rose petals, sour cherry, blood orange, leather, and wild herbs. On the palate, it’s firm yet finely detailed, with dusty tannins, subtle spice, and a long, savoury, mineral-laced finish. It unfolds slowly in the glass, revealing layers of earth, forest floor, and red fruit.
This is Barolo built for aging, elegant rather than flashy, with a noble restraint that rewards patience. A wine for purists, collectors, and anyone who values the soulful side of Piedmont.
