Bright yellow-green, silver reflections. Fine yellow apple fruit underlaid with fresh meadow herbs, nutty-biscuit-like undertone, hint of tobacco in the background. Complex, elegant, extract-sweet texture, fine acidity, stays for a long time, a harmonious accompaniment to food, safe aging potential.

80yo vines face south and south-east on hard gneiss bedrock covered with calcareous, sandy loess soil. Exceptionally fine and balanced, it’s only on the finish and aftertaste that the power of the variety is displayed, led by white pepper (and some luscious stone fruits). Drink to 2038.

Lindberg is an Erste Lage classified vineyard in Krems, located between the vineyards Kögl and Wachtberg. The Grüner Veltliner vines here are over 80 years old and are planted on a soil of loess over slate in a cool, breezy mesoclimate. The fruit was hand-picked, crushed and macerated for 12 hours, then cold-settled for 48 hours. Wild-yeast fermented for 8 weeks in stainless steel, then matured over winter on fine lees.
