A bold interpretation of Amarone. Refined aromas of licorice, dried cherries, camphor and menthol reverberate across a compact, dense mid-palate. At this early stage, the tannins feel largely oak-derived. But there is nothing blunt about them and there is ample mineral infusion and freshness. Bottle age will serve this rich Amarone well, placating the primary fruit while transforming the wine into something far more complex. Very good. Drink or hold.

Allegrini Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG is a powerful and refined expression of one of Italy’s most iconic wines. Crafted by the esteemed Allegrini family, whose winemaking heritage in Veneto dates back to the 16th century, this Amarone is produced using the traditional appassimento method. The finest Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, and Oseleta grapes are carefully hand-harvested and dried for several months before fermentation, concentrating their flavors and structure. The result is a rich, full-bodied wine with remarkable depth, complexity, and aging potential.
Deep garnet in color, this Amarone opens with intense aromas of dried black cherries, figs, and plums, layered with notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and sweet spice. Hints of tobacco, leather, and balsamic undertones add further complexity. The palate is opulent yet beautifully balanced, with velvety tannins supporting lush dark fruit flavors. A touch of oak aging brings warmth and structure, while bright acidity ensures freshness and length. The finish is long and lingering, with echoes of dried fruit, black pepper, and dark cocoa.
This Amarone pairs perfectly with slow-braised meats, rich stews, and aged cheeses like Parmigiano Reggiano. Its intensity also makes it an excellent companion for truffle-infused dishes, wild game, or simply enjoyed on its own as a meditative wine. While drinking beautifully now, this wine has the structure to evolve for 15–20 years, gaining further elegance and complexity over time.
Allegrini’s Amarone has consistently received international acclaim, earning top scores and recognition as one of the finest examples of this prestigious wine style.
