This has enticing aromas of dried violets, chocolate, oyster shells, bark, blackcurrants, black plums and cloves. There’s plenty packed into a medium body, with ultra-fine, creamy tannins enveloping a perfumed core of black fruit. So creamy and caressing. 72% cabernet sauvignon and 28% merlot. Drink from 2025.

95 points James Suckling Dec 2022

Classified as a Fifth Growth in the renowned 1855 Classification, Château Dauzac has been a cornerstone of the Margaux appellation for centuries. Its deep gravel soils and Cabernet Sauvignon led vineyards consistently produce wines of perfume, finesse and structure, while a progressive approach in both vineyard and winery has elevated the estate into one of the Médoc's finest value classified growths.

The exceptional 2020 vintage ranks among Bordeaux's finest, delivering fruit of remarkable concentration, freshness and balance. Perfect ripening conditions produced Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot of outstanding purity, while careful élevage has shaped a wine that combines generous fruit with polished structure and impressive ageing potential.

Deep garnet with youthful purple highlights, the bouquet opens with cassis, blackberry and black cherry layered with violets, cedar and graphite. As the wine evolves, notes of cigar box, pencil shavings, dark chocolate and subtle spice emerge, adding depth and classic Margaux perfume. The palate is seamless and beautifully balanced, revealing concentrated dark fruits supported by fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity and an elegant mineral thread. Long, refined and effortlessly graceful, the finish lingers with floral notes, savoury spice and exceptional persistence.

A magnificent companion for Chateaubriand, roast lamb, duck breast, venison loin or mature Comté. Already captivating with extended decanting, this distinguished Margaux has the pedigree and balance to reward patient collectors for decades.
