This is vaguely Chablis-like on the nose of iodine, mineral reduction and shellfish aromas that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. I very much like the texture of the mineral-driven middle weight flavors that also exude evident minerality on the markedly dry but not really austere finale. The supporting acid spine is firm enough that this should amply repay mid-term cellaring.

Nestled in the Côte de Beaune, Grechons is known for producing wines with finesse, minerality, and remarkable aging potential.
The nose is vibrant and complex, offering aromas of ripe citrus, white peach, and green apple, layered with delicate floral notes and hints of toasted almonds and flinty minerality. Subtle oak influence adds a touch of vanilla and spice, enhancing the wine's aromatic depth.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully structured with a lively acidity that balances the richness of the fruit. Flavors of lemon zest, pear, and hazelnut are complemented by a chalky minerality and a long, refined finish that leaves a lasting impression of purity and elegance.
The limestone-rich soils of Ladoix contribute to the wine’s crisp acidity and precision. Winemaker Michel Mallard employs traditional techniques, including fermentation in French oak barrels and extended lees aging, to create a Chardonnay that is both expressive and age-worthy.
This Premier Cru pairs wonderfully with dishes such as grilled lobster, roasted chicken, or creamy risottos. It also complements hard cheeses and delicate seafood preparations. Enjoy it now for its freshness and vibrancy, or cellar for 8–12 years to allow further complexity to develop.
