2020 Marion's Vineyard Chardonnay, Tasmania

Hand harvested from 41yo dry-grown estate vines; wild fermented in 20% new French oak puncheons; matured on lees with bâtonnage for 11 months. The child of a cool season, this is a crystalline and refreshing chardonnay of tension and zip. Lemon and nashi pear are framed in classy, vanillin and fresh almond oak. Partial retention of malic acidity accelerates the energy of a tense and long finish, promising great things in the cellar.

In the summer of 1979, an indefatigable Cypriot and a Californian dreamer began crafting Marion’s Vineyard from an overgrown block of impenetrable bush and rock.

Marion and Mark were pioneers of the cool, beautiful and fecund Tamar River Valley. Our family is still here… we love this place. The grapevines love living here too. And the flowers and the bees and the trees and the wallabies and the worms.
