Mauro Molino has quietly become one of Barolo’s most respected family estates, producing wines that balance traditional Nebbiolo character with purity, finesse and remarkable site expression. Based in La Morra, the Molino family farms organically across some of the region’s prized vineyard sites, with La Serra known for producing Barolo of elegance, perfume and finely detailed tannin structure. The vineyard’s elevated position and limestone rich soils help create a more graceful expression of Barolo while still carrying the depth and longevity collectors expect.

The 2020 vintage is beautifully poised and aromatic. Wild cherry, blood orange and red plum notes rise from the glass alongside dried rose petals, liquorice and subtle earthy spice. There is a lovely brightness and energy to the wine, with Nebbiolo’s naturally vibrant acidity carrying layers of tea leaf, truffle and crushed herbs across the palate. Fine tannins frame the fruit with precision rather than weight, while careful oak maturation adds texture and savoury complexity without masking the vineyard character.

This is Barolo that absolutely thrives with food and time in the glass. Slow braised beef cheeks, truffle risotto or handmade tajarin pasta with butter and sage would all be sensational pairings. It would also shine beside porcini mushroom dishes, roast duck or aged hard cheeses enjoyed late into the evening. As the wine opens, more floral perfume and earthy complexity continue to emerge, making every glass more captivating than the last.
