Col d'Orcia has contributed very actively in creating the category of Rosso di Montalcino. In the early '70s Count Marone Cinzano was inspired to bottle a young Sangiovese to drink every day during meals. Soon other local producers imitated the example and in 1983 the Rosso di Montalcino became a DOC.
Intense ruby red colour and violet reflections. The aroma is intense, fruity and elegant, with evident notes of ripe red fruits (blackberry and raspberry) in balance with the oak spices. Good palate structure, warm and full-bodied, with soft and elegant tannins. Long aftertaste, persistent and pleasantly fruity.
