Braida Montebruna Barbera d’Asti is a rich, polished, and soulful expression of Barbera from one of the grape’s most iconic champions in Piedmont. Crafted by the Bologna family, who helped elevate Barbera to international acclaim, Montebruna showcases the deep colour, plush fruit, and food-friendly acidity that make this variety such a joy to drink—wrapped in a style that’s both traditional and beautifully modern.

Braida’s story begins with Giacomo Bologna, a winemaking pioneer who believed that Barbera, when treated with the same respect as Nebbiolo, could produce wines of real depth and ageing potential. His belief transformed the perception of the grape, and his children, Raffaella and Giuseppe, now carry that legacy forward. Montebruna comes from a single vineyard in Rocchetta Tanaro with clay-limestone soils and excellent sun exposure, ideal for ripening Barbera fully while preserving its natural freshness.

The winemaking focuses on enhancing Barbera’s fruit vibrancy while giving it structure and complexity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve purity, followed by ageing in large oak casks to add polish and subtle spice without overwhelming the fruit.

In the glass, Montebruna Barbera d’Asti shows deep ruby colour and aromas of ripe black cherry, plum, violet, and hints of anise and warm earth. The palate is generous and supple, with juicy dark fruits, bright acidity, and fine tannins that lend length and balance.
