2022 Marcarini Barbera d’Alba DOC Ciabot Camerano, Piedmont

A ciabot is Piedmontese dialect for the workers huts that dot the vineyard landscape throughout the Langhe. A made for drinking Barbera aged 8 months in barriques, the nose displays ripe raspberry and plum fruit, the palate medium bodied, soft and flavourful.

The grapes, harvested at advanced ripeness, are fermented according to the principles of tradition . Its extraordinary characteristics, structure and generosity give it a good longevity. 

Its intense garnet red color, its clarity, its dense and warm reflections that turn to ruby, are sure promises of great richness and powerful structure. The bouquet is broad, distinctive, complex and very persistent. The austere and warm flavor highlights its remarkable robustness; balance and great harmony are enhanced by the tannins that turn to the sweet and by a pleasant sapidity.

It goes well with the great meat dishes of classic and local cuisine; excellent with braised meats, game and aged cheeses. It should be served in large, long-stemmed goblets.
