2021 Chateau de Chamirey Clos l’Eveque Mercurey 1er Cru, Burgundy

The Clos l'Evêque is in the northern part of Mercurey; the domaine owns three plots here at the highest point of the appellation. The young vines here have delivered a ripe, effusive wine with aromas of black plum, earth, and smoke. The texture is dense and velvety, with a greater sense of richness than elsewhere in this cellar. This opulent fruit is well balanced by fresh acidity that draws the wine to a lingering finish.
