The village-level Mercurey is a solid starting point for the range, with pleasant, forward raspberry fruit and floral notes, but not a lot of oak. The wine is a blend of grapes from ten different parcels and a bit of declassified premier cru juice. The palate is fresh but not tart; the tannins are firm, and there is reasonably good length. The grapes are mostly destemmed and fermented in tank before ageing for a year in cask (for 70% of the wine; 10% new) and in tank.
