Just racked from barrel. Good color and plenty of pinot fruit on the nose. Carries through to the back, lightly peppery, pretty fruit with medium stuffing. Drink from 2024-2026. Tasted Oct 2022.

Château de Meursault Bourgogne Rouge is a beautifully crafted Pinot Noir that embodies the approachable elegance of Burgundy’s regional wines. Sourced from vineyards located in the Côte de Beaune, this wine reflects Château de Meursault’s commitment to producing high-quality expressions of Burgundy’s storied terroirs. With a winemaking heritage that dates back to the 11th century, the estate is renowned for creating wines that balance tradition and modern precision.

The Pinot Noir grapes for Bourgogne Rouge are cultivated in clay-limestone soils, a hallmark of the Côte de Beaune, which contributes to the wine’s freshness and structure. Hand-harvested and carefully sorted, the grapes are vinified using traditional Burgundian methods to preserve their vibrant fruit character.

Winemaking, overseen by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, involves gentle fermentation to extract delicate aromas and tannins, followed by aging in French oak barrels for 10-12 months. This process enhances the wine’s complexity while maintaining its bright, fruit-driven style.

In the glass, Château de Meursault Bourgogne Rouge displays a bright ruby color. The nose is lively and inviting, with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and strawberries, complemented by hints of spice and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and supple, with silky tannins and a fresh acidity that frames its juicy red fruit flavors. The finish is smooth and elegant, making it a versatile wine for everyday enjoyment or casual gatherings.

This Bourgogne Rouge pairs wonderfully with roasted chicken, grilled salmon, or a charcuterie platter, offering a taste of Burgundy at a great value.
