Less affected by the frost. Mid red to crimson. The fruit is not quite so lively as the Savigny but there is enough in place. A relatively rich cherry fruit builds to the back, the acidity folds well in. Drink from 2025-2028. Tasted Oct 2022.

Château de Meursault Ladoix Les Chaillots Rouge is a refined Pinot Noir from the Ladoix appellation, situated at the northern gateway to Burgundy’s renowned Côte de Beaune. Château de Meursault, a historic estate with origins dating back to the 11th century, is celebrated for its commitment to crafting wines that reflect the diversity and elegance of Burgundy’s terroirs. The Les Chaillots vineyard, located at the foot of the Corton hill, is characterized by its stony soils and favorable exposure, producing Pinot Noir with a distinct mineral edge and vibrant fruit profile.
The name “Les Chaillots” refers to the gravelly nature of the vineyard’s soils, which are ideal for promoting drainage and vine health. This unique terroir, combined with Ladoix’s temperate climate, allows the Pinot Noir grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness and balance.
Winemaking at Château de Meursault, led by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, emphasizes precision and respect for the vineyard’s character. Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted before fermentation in small vats to ensure purity of fruit. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, with 20-30% new oak, for 12-15 months. This careful approach allows the wine to develop complexity while preserving its bright, varietal character.
In the glass, Château de Meursault Ladoix Les Chaillots Rouge reveals a brilliant ruby hue. The nose is an enticing blend of red cherry, raspberry, and cranberry, accented by floral notes of rose petals and hints of spice and earth. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and elegant, with silky tannins and lively acidity framing flavors of red berries, subtle oak, and a touch of minerality. The finish is smooth and refined, making it a versatile partner for dishes like roasted poultry, pork tenderloin, or creamy mushroom pasta.
A relatively new cuvee for the Domaine from a 2.8-hectare plot. Stephane Follin Arbelet is very excited to be working with this village that is producing excellent wines from one of the more accessible communes of the Cote d’Or & becoming more prominent for astute buyers recognising its close proximity to the Hill of Corton. Ruby & purple colour with fresh nose of redcurrants and strawberry with fine tannins – all destemmed with 18 months elevage in 1/3 new oak.
