On its finishings to bottle at the end of the year. Mid yellow, a certain volume of fruit on the nose, with a light banana touch. There is a considerable density here with a good clean finish. Always a good vintage, and this year is no exception. Drink from 2024-2027. Tasted Oct 2022.

The Clos de Chateau is an impressive 8 hectare monopole that is located in front of the Chateau, over 1/3 of the vineyard is within the Meursault appellation but they choose to keep this plot whole so therefore it reverts to Bourgogne classification. The wine is vinified in 25% new oak and the balance in 2 & 3 year old barrels for 12 months on fine lees.
Château de Meursault, whose history goes back one thousand years, produces the Clos du Château from two prime parcels located in front of the Château itself in Meursault. “Clos'', meaning “closed” refers to the walls surrounding the vineyard, and the proximity to the Château gives this wine its proprietary name. This Bourgogne Blanc, produced from well-drained gravelly soils, is vinified and aged as a Chardonnay coming from the greatest terroirs of the Domaine and with the same care as their Premiers and Grands Crus.
Château de Meursault Clos du Château Bourgogne Blanc is an elegant white wine crafted from Chardonnay, offering a glimpse into the heritage and quality of Burgundy. Sourced from the walled vineyard (clos) surrounding the historic Château de Meursault estate, this wine embodies the essence of the Côte de Beaune. Château de Meursault, with roots dating back to the 11th century, is celebrated for its meticulous attention to terroir and craftsmanship, ensuring every wine reflects the unique character of its origins.
The Clos du Château vineyard benefits from clay-limestone soils typical of Burgundy, which impart minerality and balance to the wine. Its sheltered location provides optimal growing conditions for Chardonnay, allowing the grapes to achieve a perfect balance of ripeness and acidity.
Winemaking is led by Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, whose expertise and commitment to quality ensure that this Bourgogne Blanc reflects the prestige of the estate. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed to preserve their aromatic purity. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and a small proportion of French oak barrels, with aging on fine lees for up to 10 months. This approach enhances the wine’s texture and complexity while maintaining its fresh, vibrant character.
In the glass, Château de Meursault Clos du Château Bourgogne Blanc reveals a bright, pale gold color. Aromas of citrus, green apple, and white flowers dominate the nose, complemented by subtle notes of hazelnut and a touch of flint. On the palate, it is crisp and lively, with flavors of lemon, pear, and a hint of toasted almond. The finish is clean and refreshing, making it an excellent choice for pairing with seafood, light pasta dishes, or soft cheeses.
