With its deep colour, dark blackberry fruit, massive body, and robust tannins, this is a very different wine from Les Joyeuses. The 0.78-hectare parcel faces due south in the valley called La Combe Jeannin that leads to Magny-lès-Villers in rocky soils, producing a wine with tannin, lively acidity, and good length. The grapes are partly destemmed before careful fermentation and will age approximately 15 months in cask, half new.

This is aromatically similar to the Valozières if not quite so sauvage in character. There is again impressive density and solid power to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess good richness that carries over the rustic and linear finish flits with leanness. This should benefit from at least some cellaring to add depth and further flesh out.

This premier cru vineyard, nestled in the village of Ladoix, is known for producing wines with remarkable depth and character.
The nose opens with inviting aromas of ripe red cherries, wild strawberries, and blackberries, complemented by hints of violets, earthy forest floor, and a touch of warm spice. Subtle oak integration adds layers of vanilla and toasted almond, enhancing the aromatic profile.
On the palate, the wine is beautifully balanced with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Flavors of red currants, dark plums, and a touch of black pepper are woven together with nuances of mineral complexity and a lingering, refined finish. The texture is silky, showcasing both power and finesse.
Produced by the esteemed Domaine Michel Mallard, known for their meticulous vineyard management and respect for tradition, this wine is a true reflection of its terroir. The Ladoix 1er Cru Corvée benefits from limestone-rich soils and optimal exposure, which contribute to its structure and aging potential.
Perfect for pairing with dishes such as roasted duck, grilled lamb, or mushroom risotto, this wine also complements aged cheeses and charcuterie. Enjoy it now for its youthful vibrancy or cellar it for 8–12 years to reveal further depth and complexity.
