G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe DOCG is a radiant and elegant expression of Barolo, crafted from high-altitude vineyards on the western slopes of the Barolo zone. The name Albe refers to the “sunrises” seen from these sites, which catch the morning light at different times due to their varying elevations. This blend of fruit from three vineyards results in a Barolo that’s accessible, expressive and utterly true to its terroir.

Winemaker Giuseppe Vajra leads the family estate with a philosophy rooted in organic farming and a gentle, traditional approach in the cellar. Fermentations are long and slow, using wild yeasts, with ageing in large Slavonian oak casks for over two years to allow the wine’s aromatics and structure to evolve naturally.

Albe opens with lifted aromas of wild strawberry, cherry, rose petals and orange peel, layered with hints of anise and crushed herbs. The palate is poised and silky, offering bright red fruits, fine chalky tannins and a long, mineral-laced finish. It’s Barolo with brightness and charm, perfect for those looking to experience the variety’s finesse without waiting decades.

Pair it with duck breast, truffle pasta, osso buco or aged pecorino. While approachable now, especially with a decant, Albe will reward cellaring for 10 to 15 years.
