Sourced from vineyards in both La Morra and Serralunga d’Alba, this Barolo is Gaja’s interpretation of the appellation in a pure, classical voice. Dagromis blends fruit from sites that bring complementary personalities, La Morra contributing perfume and finesse, Serralunga delivering structure and depth. The soils range from limestone rich marl to compact clay, shaping Nebbiolo with both aromatic lift and firm tannic backbone. Under the Gaja philosophy, the aim is transparency and longevity, allowing vineyard character to define the wine rather than cellar influence.
Winemaking is disciplined and patient. Fermentation and ageing are designed to refine tannin and build harmony without softening Barolo’s natural authority. The result is a wine that carries power with elegance, unfolding slowly rather than rushing forward.
In the glass it shows a bright garnet with ruby highlights. Aromas are layered and precise, opening with rose petal, sour cherry and red plum, followed by liquorice, dried herbs, tar and a subtle earthy spice. There is a lifted floral perfume that signals classic Nebbiolo.
The palate is medium to full bodied and architectural, with concentrated red fruit wrapped in firm, finely grained tannins. A vibrant acid spine drives the wine long and focused, carrying flavours of cherry, cranberry and savoury mineral tones. The finish is persistent, structured and dry, built for evolution.
It pairs beautifully with braised beef, truffle dishes, game, mushroom risotto and aged Parmigiano Reggiano. While compelling now with extended decanting, it will cellar effortlessly for fifteen to twenty years, developing leather, tobacco and earthy complexity.
Dagromis is Barolo seen through Gaja’s lens, structured, perfumed and deeply traditional, a wine that balances accessibility with serious ageing pedigree.
