Rosehip, flint, fudge, apple, freshly grated and dried lemon peel. In the mouth there is a crazy tension, there is a mineral oscillation and a high energy level until very long into the finish. A hint of viscosity, biting acidity and very fine phenolics are tightly woven together, all ultra-precise in focus.

What a ravishing nose of white and yellow peaches plus honeysuckle and jasmine this has! Super-elegant and filigree but also very concentrated, this has a racy, wet stone core that stretches out towards infinity! Incredibly precise and pristine finish. And all this with just 11.5% alcohol! From organically grown grapes with Fair'n Green certification. Drink or hold.

Georg Breuer Berg Schlossberg Riesling is one of the Rheingau’s most revered wines and a benchmark for dry Riesling of power, precision and longevity. Berg Schlossberg sits at the western edge of Rüdesheim, a steep, dramatic vineyard overlooking the Rhine, where ancient slate and quartzite soils dominate. These poor, rocky soils force vines to dig deep, delivering wines of intense mineral drive and remarkable structural tension. It is widely regarded as one of Germany’s great grand cru sites.
The estate of Georg Breuer has long been synonymous with uncompromising quality, but its modern identity was shaped under the late Bernhard Breuer, a pioneer of dry Riesling and a driving force behind Germany’s move toward terroir focused, dry expressions. Today, the estate is led by Theresa Breuer, who continues this philosophy with precision and clarity. Farming is meticulous, yields are low and the focus is firmly on letting each site speak without embellishment.
Aromatically, Berg Schlossberg is tightly wound and profound. Lime zest, green apple and white peach sit alongside delicate floral notes and a distinct smoky, stony character. With air, more complex layers unfold. Crushed slate, citrus oil, wet stone and a subtle herbal edge emerge, giving the wine depth and seriousness without heaviness.
On the palate, the wine is intense and finely structured. It enters with piercing citrus and stone fruit, then builds through the mid palate with concentrated minerality and saline drive. Acidity is razor sharp but beautifully integrated, providing energy and length rather than sharpness. There is a firm phenolic grip that gives shape and authority, carrying the wine through a long, dry, resonant finish that echoes lime peel, stone and smoke.
This is a Riesling made for patience and for the table. It is outstanding with oysters, shellfish, smoked fish, pork or dishes with richness that benefit from acidity and mineral tension. While it can be approached young with decanting, Berg Schlossberg truly comes into its own with time. Over fifteen to twenty five years it will develop extraordinary complexity, petrol, spice and savoury depth while retaining its core of freshness and drive.
Georg Breuer Berg Schlossberg Riesling is uncompromising, intense and deeply expressive of site. A true collector’s Riesling and one of Germany’s most profound dry white wines.
