A sublimely presented Cabernet from a vineyard planted more than 50 years ago in Light Pass. Deep and powerful blackcurrant with dark chocolate and lifted perfumed African Violet notes on the nose. The palate shows a minerally thread that cuts through the dark rich fruit flavours. Grainy tannins and oak that is deliberately backed-off to let the fruit emerge. It has that distinctive cracked seashell minerality on the finish.

Marble angels is a reference to Julius Henschke, artist and sculptor, whose work is included in Adelaide’s War Memorial. Marble angels were one of his favourite motifs. The Henschke connection runs deep because the white Angaston marble Julius worked with was quarried next to the Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard – the source of grapes for this wine – at Light Pass. Marble Angels arrives ripe fruited, soft, warm and approachable, bringing some famed Barossa Valley hospitality to the glass. The ’21 vintage was viewed as exceptional in many quarters. The richness and generosity of flavour here supports that view. Intense black fruits and lively spices dictate the style and flow of the wine while dried herbs play a supporting role providing extra detail. The wine is delivered via supple tannins, showing good balance and great concentration of fruit.
