From the Parker Abbey Vineyard, co-fermented with cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot in (40% new) oak for 18 months. Lilac and hibiscus. Prune plums, black cherries and blackberries. Sapote fruit, clove and crushed peppercorn. Bay leaf and sage. Cedar, coffee pods and bitter chocolate. A slinky wine with a fitted frame and tailored edges. Acidity draws out the wine, and tannins are dusty.

Coonawarra and Cabernet is the iconic combination, but this region isn’t a one trick pony. Shiraz accounts for just under a fifth of the region’s plantings and the other Bordeaux varieties are also planted thanks to the region’s similarities in climate to Bordeaux. Parker Estate is proud to showcase two wines that showcase the suitability of the region to craft elegant, cool climate wines other than Cabernet Sauvignon.
Parker’s Abbey Estate Block 95 is named, very simplistically, after the year the Cabernet & Petit Verdot vines were planted. Each year the Cabernet and Petit Verdot are picked together and co-fermented to craft a uniquely aromatic take on the traditional Coonawarra Cabernet. Since its release in 2012, this wine has been a crowd favourite.
