This is an intriguing blend of 54/21/18/7% shiraz/grenache/mataro/cabernet, although it is not noted on the label. Rightly so. After all, the sum of this ersatz field blend is far greater than the contribution of each part. Younger vines. Tank fermented with a smidgeon of older wood. Reductive at first whiff, before teeming blue and red fruits brushed with verdant garden herb and tobacco drive long. Leather, a note of charcuterie and juicy pastille notes define the finish. Effortless drinking.

Deep ruby red from core to rim. Mulberry, dark loam and coffee grounds on the nose. Dense and weighty with loads of black fruit and savoury meat and anise spices. Tannins have equally dense power, but it harmonises well to ensure balance and length 29 AUG 2023 Drink 2023–2031

The Queen of the Hive produces the bees that have a vital role in maintaining natural balance & eco-health in our world. Bees keep plants & crops alive through pollination & without bees, humans would struggle to survive. Bees only survive & thrive in chemical free environments, hence why Paxton's certified biodynamic estate vineyards in McLaren Vale are home to so many bee hives & their powerful, tireless Queens.
Crimson red. Perfumed fragrance of plum, cherries and raspberries. Delightfully soft and mellow palate that shows layers of strawberries and poached rhubarb with really gentle silky tannins. Easy drinking fresh style that suits the modern wine lover.
