I think the first Peregrine Pinot Noir I tasted was the 2002, on release, back in the day. I always like the look of the label.
Cherry cola, thyme, Campari, ironstone, Dutch licorice. It’s quite rugged, with some pleasing herbal bitterness, ripe orange acidity, plenty of flavour, and a fair bit of oomph and character, then some chicory and cherry on a finish of good length. Nice wine. Balanced. Good to drink.
93 Points Gary Walsh Wine Front
Hand harvested from Bendigo (50%) and Pisa (50%) sub regions of Central Otago.A combination of whole bunch and destemmed fruit fermented and hand plunged in open top fermenters, and matured for 10 months in French oak barrels.
Purity, elegance combine with texture, concentration and length. A true reflection of the Central Otago sub regions that contribute to this Pinot Noir. Pretty, floral, and perfumed, this wine displays appealing aromas of ripe red and dark cherry with lovely underlying oak spice. Wonderful depth of fruit refined with a lovely acidity and finesse, this beautiful Pinot Noir will cellar well into the future up to 10 years and beyond.
