A beguiling nose of berry compote, iron shavings, mulch and kelp impresses from the get-go. The palate offers a suave delivery, a funnel of tannins guides the flavours along. It's beautifully balanced, offering flavour, freshness and detail. It's drinking beautifully now but has great potential to age. 01 Feb 2025 Drink 2025–2035

Stella Bella Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River is a polished and expressive red that captures everything people love about this powerhouse variety in one of Australia’s greatest Cabernet regions. Rich in dark fruit, structured yet supple, and brimming with regional character, it’s a classic style delivered with modern finesse.

The fruit is sourced from premium vineyard sites across southern Margaret River, where cooling breezes from the Indian and Southern Oceans moderate the warm days and help retain natural acidity. The gravelly soils and maritime climate echo Bordeaux in many ways, and Cabernet thrives here—producing wines with ripe fruit, leafy aromatics, and beautifully fine tannins.

Winemaking at Stella Bella focuses on balance and clarity. Fermentation is done in small parcels, with gentle extraction and a tailored oak regime using French barriques (around 30–40% new) to build structure and complexity without overwhelming the purity of the fruit.

In the glass, it opens with aromas of blackcurrant, bay leaf, cedar, and dark chocolate, with subtle notes of violets and graphite. The palate is medium to full bodied, with juicy cassis, earthy undertones, refined tannins, and a long, savoury finish. It’s Cabernet with poise and pedigree, approachable young but built to evolve beautifully over time.

Pair it with rosemary lamb, roast mushrooms, or hard cheeses—it’s a smart buy for anyone chasing Margaret River Cabernet character at an excellent price point.
