Bright in the glass, with a really fine bead and persistent mousse. Pretty and lifted aromas of cherry, strawberry, white flowers, baked apple, sweet spice and bath salts. Mouth-filling, complex, layered and quite delicious on the palate. Red fruits, stone fruit, pithy acidity and some grippy phenolics on the finish make for a wine with power and precision. Long and very classy: a fizz for food. Drink to 2035.

53/47% pinot meunier/pinot noir, disgorged in October 2024 and a total of 36 months on lees with a low dosage of 3.5 g/L. The first time this wine has been dominated by pinot meunier. Rainier cherries, honeysuckle and grey pumice stone. A curl of lemon skin and paperbark, candied almonds and chalk dust. A middle-palate weight with some sandy grip and cold peach tea bitters. Acidity refreshes the palate with those lemon candies and chrysanthemum coming through on the finish. A well-balanced wine that doesn't lack for anything, at times a hard task to accomplish in these blends.

(Disgorgement No. 2). Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead and aromatic nose of soft buttered brioche and chalky crushed rock notes over wafts of red strawberry and cherry fruits. Fine and saline on the palate, savoury and dry, with rapier acidity and a steely and long phenolic bitter zest finish. Drink to 2031.

About Swift

The Swift sparkling wines have established themselves as some of the best traditional method sparkling wines made in Australia. Made by the Swift family of Printhie, the wines draw on fruit grown in the continental cool-climate of Orange, NSW.

Printhie Wines was established by Jim and Ruth Swift in 1996 when they planted the first vines on the family’s property near Molong in the Orange region. Their sons Ed and Dave returned to the family business in the early 2000s and have overseen the expansion of the estate to 33 hectares. Today four estate vineyards span elevations from 630 to 1,070 metres in a region defined by altitude. The continental climate and long, cool growing season produce wines of natural aromatic lift and restrained structure. With experienced winemaker Drew Tuckwell at the helm since 2008, Printhie has become regarded as one of the region’s most consistent producers across its wide range of wines.
