Very classy and typical of Sassicaia with currant, tobacco, chocolate, sage and lavender on the nose and palate. Medium- to full-bodied with very integrated and refined tannins that are caressing and pretty with a lovely length and beauty. Such finesse and structure at the same time. Best in 2028 and beyond but already joy to taste.

Sassicaia has garnered numerous accolades over the years. Notably, the 1985 and 2016 vintages received perfect 100-point scores from esteemed wine critic Robert Parker. In 2018, Wine Spectator named the 2015 vintage as the "Wine of the Year," highlighting its exceptional quality and reinforcing Sassicaia's status as a benchmark in the wine industry.
Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia IGT Bolgheri is one of Italy’s most iconic wines, renowned globally as the pioneer of the Super Tuscan movement. Produced at the historic Tenuta San Guido estate in Bolgheri on Tuscany’s stunning coast, Sassicaia is crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon with a touch of Cabernet Franc, embodying elegance, structure, and remarkable aging potential. Founded by the visionary Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, Tenuta San Guido introduced Sassicaia in the 1960s, transforming the Italian wine landscape with a Bordeaux-inspired blend grown on Bolgheri’s unique terroir. The region’s gravelly soils and maritime climate provide ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, adding complexity and balance to this exceptional wine.
Winemaker Graziana Grassini oversees the production of Sassicaia, carefully selecting fruit from the estate’s best vineyards and employing traditional vinification techniques combined with precise modern methods. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for about two years, allowing it to develop depth and refined tannins that enhance its longevity and complexity.
Sassicaia offers a layered bouquet of blackberry, cassis, and plum, intertwined with notes of cedar, tobacco, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is full-bodied and elegant, with flavors of dark fruit, spice, and a distinctive minerality, balanced by fine tannins and fresh acidity. The long, sophisticated finish reveals hints of graphite and earth, making it one of Italy’s most collectible wines and a benchmark for quality and tradition.
