The 'FG' here does not stand for 'Fairly Grouse'. It stands for exactly what you think it does. Teusner has always been about relationships with growers and this obviously pays dividends over time. Lovely pure satsuma plum and black fruits, layers of spice, softly-spoken oak and an earthy, northern Barossa vibe. It's good. Calm and composed, silty tannins and a real sense of being comfortable in its own skin. FG alright.

Teusner Righteous FG Shiraz from the Barossa Valley is a bold and opulent expression of Shiraz, crafted from low-yielding, old-vine fruit grown in some of the region’s most prized vineyards. Kym Teusner, known for his hands-on approach and passion for preserving Barossa’s heritage vines, produces this flagship wine with an emphasis on power, richness, and finesse. The FG in the name stands for First Growth, highlighting its status as one of Teusner’s most prestigious releases, made only in exceptional vintages from the best parcels of fruit.
On the palate, Teusner Righteous FG Shiraz is full-bodied and deeply concentrated, with layers of blackberry, black cherry, and plum wrapped in dark chocolate, espresso, and sweet spice. The fruit intensity is balanced by fine-grained tannins and well-integrated oak, which adds hints of vanilla, cedar, and a touch of smoky complexity. Despite its power, the wine retains freshness and elegance, leading to a long, luxurious finish with lingering notes of licorice, black pepper, and earthy depth.
This Shiraz is a perfect match for rich, slow-cooked dishes such as braised beef short ribs, roast lamb with rosemary, or chargrilled ribeye steak. Its bold structure and depth also complement aged cheeses and dark chocolate desserts. While drinking beautifully now with decanting, this wine has outstanding cellaring potential, continuing to evolve over 15–20 years.
