Long and intensely flavoured Semillon from a single block within a 1908-planted Hunter vineyard
Quiet striking, fragrant lemon and lime nose with a sense of intensity and freshness that really leaps from the glass. The palate is so long, so fine and concentrated. Elegantly piercing semillon at its best here. Drink over the next decade or more.
98 points James Suckling, October 2021
An unusual expression of the vintage, reflecting the challenges of the season. Distinct herbal, gooseberry and melon-rind tones sit alongside an underlying gentle fruitiness. The palate is weighty, with sour-edged acidity. The strength of these century-plus-old vines shows in the wine’s intensity and length, though how it will age remains to be seen.

The fruit for this Semillon is sourced from the Sign Post block in Tyrrell’s HVD Vineyard. First planted in 1908, the site sits between two dry creek beds with free-draining, sandy soils over coarse river sand.
The fruit was lightly pressed before the free-run juice was fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks before the wine spent six weeks on fine lees before it was prepared for bottling in July.
