Amelia Park Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River is a benchmark wine that captures the elegance, power and finesse for which this region is globally renowned. Crafted by Jeremy Gordon, one of Western Australia's most respected winemakers, this wine is made from hand-selected parcels sourced from low-yielding vineyards in the Wilyabrup subregion. These gravelly soils and maritime influences create fruit of exceptional purity, structure and aromatic lift.
The winemaking is precise and restrained. Fermentation takes place in small open-top fermenters with gentle plunging to preserve fruit character and extract fine tannins. The wine is matured in French oak barriques, with a judicious use of new oak, allowing the Cabernet to develop depth and complexity without being overpowered.
In the glass, it reveals concentrated aromas of blackcurrant, plum and dark cherry layered with bay leaf, graphite, cocoa and hints of cedar. The palate is rich and seamless, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a savoury, long finish. It is a wine of presence and polish, combining intensity with grace.
Ideal food pairings include roast lamb with rosemary, slow-cooked beef short ribs, or grilled portobello mushrooms with aged cheddar. It is drinking beautifully now and will reward cellaring over the next 12 to 15 years.
