Pretty mid purple Not too much nose, just fresh red fruit, leaner behind, good grainy character to the tannins, which are not over present, and fresh acidity. Cheerful cherry and raspberry fruit all the way through. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted Oct 2023.

A relatively new cuvee for the Domaine from a 2.8-hectare plot. Stephane Follin Arbelet is very excited to be working with this village that is producing excellent wines from one of the more accessible communes of the Cote d’Or & becoming more prominent for astute buyers recognising its close proximity to the Hill of Corton. Ruby & purple colour with fresh nose of redcurrants and strawberry with fine tannins – all destemmed with 18 months elevage in 1/3 new oak.
Château de Meursault Ladoix Les Chaillots Rouge is a captivating Pinot Noir from the lesser-known yet highly respected Ladoix appellation, nestled at the northern edge of Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. Château de Meursault, with its centuries-old winemaking heritage and iconic estate, continues to craft wines that celebrate the unique terroirs of Burgundy. The Les Chaillots vineyard is a prime site within Ladoix, known for its stony, limestone-rich soils that contribute to the wine's vibrant minerality and finesse.
The name “Les Chaillots” is derived from the French word for pebbles, referencing the vineyard’s rocky terrain. These soils, combined with a favorable exposure and microclimate, create ideal conditions for cultivating Pinot Noir with exceptional clarity and elegance. Château de Meursault employs sustainable viticulture practices to nurture the vines and ensure the grapes reflect the true character of the land.
Under the guidance of estate manager Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, the winemaking process emphasizes precision and respect for tradition. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a meticulous sorting process. After fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels, 20-30% new, for 12-15 months to enhance its complexity while preserving its fresh fruit character.
In the glass, Château de Meursault Ladoix Les Chaillots Rouge displays a brilliant garnet hue. Aromas of red cherries, raspberries, and cranberries blend with subtle hints of earth, violets, and a touch of spice. On the palate, it is fresh and approachable, with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a mineral-driven finish. This wine is an excellent companion to roasted poultry, duck, or creamy mushroom dishes.
