Cooper Burns Grenache Shiraz Mataro (GSM) is a bold and beautifully balanced red blend from the Barossa Valley, one of Australia's most renowned wine regions. Produced by Cooper Burns, a boutique winery dedicated to crafting expressive and character-driven wines, this GSM blend highlights the rich, fruit-forward style that the Barossa is famous for, while showcasing the synergy of these three classic Rhône varietals.

The Grenache, Shiraz, and Mataro grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards within the Barossa Valley, where old vines and warm conditions contribute to the wine's depth, intensity, and complexity. The Grenache provides bright red fruit and lifted aromatics, Shiraz adds structure and richness, while Mataro (also known as Mourvèdre) lends earthy, savory notes and firm tannins, creating a harmonious blend.

Winemaking at Cooper Burns focuses on small-batch techniques to preserve the integrity of the fruit and enhance the wine's character. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented separately in open fermenters to maintain varietal expression. After blending, the wine is aged in seasoned French and American oak barrels to integrate flavors and add subtle spice without overwhelming the vibrant fruit profile.

In the glass, the wine reveals a deep ruby-red color with garnet highlights. The nose is inviting and complex, with aromas of red cherries, blackberries, and plum, interwoven with hints of spice, licorice, and a touch of dried herbs. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with silky tannins and a balanced acidity supporting flavors of ripe red and black fruit, chocolate, and savory undertones. The finish is long and smooth, showcasing the wine’s impeccable balance and depth.

Cooper Burns GSM is a versatile food wine, pairing wonderfully with grilled meats, slow-cooked lamb shanks, or hearty vegetable stews. It also complements charcuterie and hard cheeses, making it an excellent choice for casual gatherings or refined dinners. While ready to enjoy now, this wine has the structure to age gracefully for 5-7 years, developing further complexity over time.
