2022 Cullen Grace Madeline SBS Biodynamic, Margaret River

Unbelievably restrained with its flavour profile, nothing tropical here, and it’s so racy and tight it leaves a smoke trail in its wake. Very youthful with some citrus and coriander, lemon barley water and a briny character; all appealing and the fruit has soaked up the new oak easily. This will only get better in time.

Grace Madeline is Diana Madeline’s mother and Vanya Cullen’s maternal grand-mother. This wine named in her honour is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon vines were planted on their own roots in 1976, and are farmed with 100% certified biodynamic, carbon positive methods.

Vibrant acidity, minerality, and texture, framing citrus, curry leaf, melon, cumin and vanilla flavours. A lively and young wine, with persistent flavour and texture.

This is renamed Cullen Vineyard sauvignon blanc semillon to honour Diana Madeline’s mother, Grace Madeline. The wine is light straw with green tinges. White flower, cut grass, nettle, pear, apple gooseberry are evident on the nose.
