The blend comprises the best barrels from the Steven and LDR Vineyards. A fine, elegant chardonnay, with the palate defined by a tensile core of acidity rather than overt fruitiness. Cleansing shades of lemon, grapefruit and melon are enhanced by flinty sulfide detail. Serve lightly chilled (9–11°C) in a chardonnay-specific glass, as the wine gains greater complexity with air. A wine to be sipped, considered and savoured.

Chardonnay has become an increasingly important part of the Hunter Valley story, and the Limited Release bottling from De Iuliis highlights the region’s evolving style. The De Iuliis family established their winery in Pokolbin after decades as respected grape growers, with winemaker Mike De Iuliis focusing on wines that reflect both vineyard character and careful craftsmanship. Fruit for the Limited Release Chardonnay is sourced from premium Hunter Valley sites where warm days and cooling evening breezes allow the grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness.

Pale straw with a bright golden hue, the aromas are layered and refined. White peach, nectarine and citrus zest emerge from the glass, joined by notes of roasted cashew, subtle vanilla and a gentle hint of flint. The bouquet shows both ripeness and restraint.

The wine carries impressive texture and balance, combining stone fruit and citrus flavours with vibrant natural acidity. Careful lees maturation and well judged oak contribute a creamy mid palate while maintaining clarity and structure. Flavours of lemon curd, peach and toasted almond build through the wine before a long, composed finish with mineral freshness.

Grilled scallops, roast chicken with herbs, lobster with butter or creamy mushroom dishes complement the richness and structure of this style. With its balance of fruit, acidity and oak, the Limited Release Chardonnay will continue to develop further complexity in the cellar over the next eight to twelve years.
