Intense garnet red hue and aromas of fruit, oak and spice on the nose. The palate reveals a smooth, rich attack, velvety tannins and good balance. A delicate, seductive and very elegant wine.
Joseph Faiveley, founded in 1825, is one of Burgundy's most renowned and historic wine producers. The winery was established by Pierre Faiveley, and over time, the family’s reputation grew significantly, particularly due to its focus on high-quality wines from Burgundy’s most prestigious appellations.
Faiveley initially concentrated on wine distribution, but by the mid-19th century, the family expanded into vineyard ownership. Joseph Faiveley (Pierre's grandson) was responsible for solidifying the family’s place in Burgundy winemaking. By acquiring prime vineyards, including some of the most esteemed plots in Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, he elevated the estate’s status. This marked Faiveley's transition from a négociant house to a domaine, crafting wines from its own vines.
The family-owned estate remained under Faiveley leadership through the generations, maintaining a reputation for producing structured, powerful wines that age gracefully. In the 2000s, under the direction of Erwan Faiveley, the estate modernized its techniques, embracing a more approachable style without losing its roots in traditional Burgundian winemaking.
Today, Joseph Faiveley produces an impressive range of wines, including Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines, from both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, while staying committed to its long legacy and heritage in Burgundy.
