Fruit is sourced from six sites in the Wairau valley. 15% whole bunches. Matured from 10 months in barrel, 20% new. This feels like it's made by someone who loves to drink it. Satsuma plums, smoked cherry jam, fig and caraway seed spice. Raspberry compote ignites some red fruit high tones, rhubarb root and a subtle hint of sarsaparilla, too. A wine that is not afraid of the grainy textures and darker, more savoury, notes, while all being wrapped in the silty fabric of fine tannins. It's addictive, infectious and a wild ride of succulent fruit and stylish, woodsy spice.

Established in 1981 and named after the original 19th century homestead on the property, Framingham has long been one of Marlborough’s most respected producers. Based in the Wairau Valley, the estate built its reputation on meticulous viticulture and small batch winemaking, with a strong focus on site expression and texture. Marlborough may be globally famous for Sauvignon Blanc, but its cool nights, long sunshine hours and diverse soils of gravel and clay also produce finely structured Pinot Noir. Framingham approaches the variety with restraint, careful oak use and an emphasis on purity rather than weight.

Bright ruby with vibrant crimson edges, the aromatics are lifted and detailed. Red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry sit alongside subtle spice, dried thyme and a gentle earthy undertone. There is a freshness and clarity that speak clearly of Marlborough’s cool climate.

On the palate it is medium bodied, supple and beautifully balanced. Juicy red berry fruit flows across fine tannins and vibrant natural acidity, giving both energy and length. Hints of clove, forest floor and discreet oak add complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The finish is long, savoury and poised, lingering with cherry skin and soft spice.

Pair with roast duck, grilled salmon, herb roasted pork or mushroom risotto. Delicious now for its vibrancy and perfume, it will cellar confidently for six to ten years, developing further savoury depth and silky integration.
