The Fratelli Alessandria 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Prinsiòt offers an expressive bouquet with wild berry, dried pomegranate and blue flower. The wine's aromatic intensity hits all the high notes and paints a pretty but straightforward portrait of Nebbiolo. This wine closes with elegant tones of crushed white pepper and crushed rose. Fruit is sourced from across Verduno, and 10,000 bottles were made.

The Fratelli Alessandria team (Vittore Alessandria and his wife Katia) opened the Speziale Wine Resort in 2022. This is a good recommendation for those of you looking for accommodation on your next trip to Barolo.

Fratelli Alessandria Prinsiot Langhe Nebbiolo is a beautifully pure and expressive take on Nebbiolo from one of Barolo’s most respected family-run estates. Based in the village of Verduno in the northern part of the Barolo zone, Fratelli Alessandria has been crafting traditional wines since the mid-1800s, and their Langhe Nebbiolo offers a window into that legacy with charm, vibrancy and finesse.

The name Prinsiot is a nod to family tradition—it means “little prince” in local dialect, a tribute to the younger generation and the continuation of the Alessandria lineage. The fruit for this wine comes from younger vines in Barolo-designated vineyards and parcels just outside the DOCG boundaries, where the soils are a blend of sand, clay and limestone that contribute to the wine’s aromatic lift and silken texture.

Made entirely from Nebbiolo, the wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged for several months in large Slavonian oak botti. This gentle, traditional approach allows the grape’s natural perfume and structure to shine without being masked by oak. In the glass, it’s intensely fragrant—rose petals, sour cherry, raspberry and orange peel leap out, followed by hints of anise, tobacco leaf and crushed herbs. The palate is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, with fine, powdery tannins and bright acidity giving it both elegance and drive.

What sets Prinsiot apart is its approachability. While many young Nebbiolos can feel hard-edged, this wine is supple and accessible, without sacrificing typicity. It’s ideal with mushroom risotto, grilled lamb, duck breast or a simple tagliatelle al ragù. It also works brilliantly with aged cheeses and charcuterie.

Fratelli Alessandria is widely praised by Italian wine critics and Barolo lovers for their commitment to classicism and clarity. Prinsiot Langhe Nebbiolo is a perfect introduction to their style—refined, expressive, and unmistakably Piedmontese.
